Autodyn supports explicit modelling of solids, fluids and gases, and their interaction (multi‐physics via coupling of different solver types).

Solver technologies include:

Lagrangian finite‐element solver (solid structural dynamics) 

Eulerian finite‐volume solver (for high speed fluids, compressible flows) 

Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) solver (mesh‐free, for large deformations, fragmentation)

Solver coupling: combinations such as Lagrange-Lagrange, Euler-Lagrange, SPH-Lagrange for fluid-structure interaction, blast, impact etc.

Material model library: Over 150 pre populated material models covering alloys, brittle/granular materials, orthotropic materials, energetic/ explosive compounds.

Integration into the ANSYS Workbench environment: CAD import, mesh transfer, post‐processing tools.
